A participating reinsurer is an alternative investor, asset manager, reinsurer or other sponsor of reinsurance business underwritten by MultiStrat.

Participating reinsurers view reinsurance transactions as low-correlated investments offering attractive risk-adjusted returns. Most participating reinsurers use a combination of proprietary investment strategies and reinsurance underwriting in seeking to generate potential returns that are greater than a similar investment in a fund or managed account with an identical investment strategy. Other participating reinsurers engage third-party asset managers to generate investment returns, focusing more on the underwriting performance component of each transaction.

A participating reinsurer may back one or more transactions through a segregated account, protected cell or stand-alone reinsurance company that MultiStrat and its professional service partners will set-up and manage over time.
